As 2023 comes to a close, we would like to reflect on our growth and successes this year. First, during this holiday season, we would like to extend our gratitude to all of the volunteers who make Kidney Companions possible. Your dedication and generosity reflect the true nature of all we celebrate during this holiday season - love, compassion, and solicitude. Most notably during 2023, we had two successful kidney transplants for our Kidney Companions! Our teams were active at both University of Michigan and Trinity Health in Grand Rapids, serving our Companions but also impressing the transplant centers with their commitment and service. As a volunteer group, we grew substantially, which has facilitated the addition of several new Companions who are actively working their way through the transplant process, and we know that 2024 will bring excellent news for them. In recognition of our successes, Molly and John were invited to present at the University of Michigan Transplant Symposium in October, and they have now been asked to present at the Trinity Health Transplant Symposium in Grand Rapids in the Spring of 2024. Finally, we successfully have launched our new initiative, Walking with Kidney Companions (pictured above). Just in the past two weeks, Kidney Companion volunteers have been actively engaged in socially walking with one of our soon-to-be activated Kidney Companion partners.
